Fifty-three Mansfield ISD students competed in the regional Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) competition, and all 53 students qualified for the state contest.
TAFE is an organization created to give students an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. Students can also choose to participate in a variety of competitive events where they can demonstrate their impressive abilities to create lessons and activities for a variety of grade levels and subject matters.
Thirty-two students from Mansfield High School, 10 students from Summit High School and 11 students from Ben Barber Innovation Academy will be taking part in the state TAFE competition.
The state contest will be held Feb. 28 through March 2 in Allen, Texas. Participants will be able to earn scholarships, network and learn best practices.
TAFE was created in 1984 to provide Texas middle school and high schools students the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education. The organization is sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
