Pre-K, kindergarten, first, and second grade classes visit the library for instruction once a week. Third and fourth grade classes visit the library every other week. The library has an "Open Check Out" policy which allows students the flexibility to visit the library individually on a more frequent basis.
Students in grades K-1 check out one book.
Students in grades 2-4 check out up to 2 books.
All books circulate for one week in K-2 and may be renewed as needed. Books may be checked out for two weeks for 3rd and 4th grade students and renewed as needed.Parents, please help to ensure your child is a good library citizen and returns his/her book(s) on time. This is very important when teaching them about being responsible for the materials they take home.
Visit the Destiny web site to search for books in the Martha Reid Elementary library. Access to this site is available from school or home by clicking on the Destiny Quest icon at the top of the page.
Lost or Damaged Books
Unlike the public library, the school library does not charge fees for returning a book late. Instead of late fees, checkout privileges are withheld unitl all books are returned to the library. If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, payment for the book is expected, and the replacement price of the book will be given to your child. If a book is lost, paid for, and then found at a later date, we will not refund money paid for the lost book. Instead, your child may keep the book or donate it back ot the library. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the librarian.
